Scents Of The Season

Smell-good products bring comfort just in time for December's chill.

BY CART VAUGHN

As the cold weather creeps in and daylight hours grow
shorter, many of us find ourselves in hibernation mode,
staying home and seeking comfort in the simpler things
in life. To get ready for this time of year, we discovered
some comforting products, sure to refresh the skin and
warm the spirit.
Lush's Figs and Leaves Soap is more like a moistur-
izer than a soap. The base of this bar is chock-full of ylang
ylang, orange blossom and fresh organic figs. Available at
Lush stores at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi (248-348-0791)
and Somerset Collection in Troy (248-458-1690); sold
by weight: $8.85 for a quarter-pound. Soap and Paper
Factory's Fig Sugar Scrub is paraben-free and concen-
trated with autumn figs and turbinado sugar to penetrate
your skin without clogging your pores. The handmade wrap
is pretty enough to frame — a drawing inspired by nature
with a thoroughly modern flare. Available at Lori Karbal
in Birmingham (248-258-1959); $44. Crabtree & Evelyn
offers seasonal spices — ginger, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg
