Quick! While They Last!

Costco warehouse store food courts
have been famous in some circles for
their $1.50 deal for a kosher hot dog
and a soft drink.
The deal isn't going away, but the
kosher part is.
A Costco executive in Seattle told
the Jewish News that the company has
begun "transitioning" to its Kirkland
Signature hot dog from kosher variet-
ies. He blamed supply problems in the
kosher meat industry and the develop-
ment by the company of its Kirkland
Signature dog.
The new hot dog, while not kosher,
contains premium beef and is "a quar-
ter pound plus:' the executive said.
The executive asked not to be iden-
tified and preferred that this article
not be written because the transition
had been ongoing store by store for
three months and there have been no
complaints, he said.
In areas with larger Jewish popu-
lations, Costco will continue to sell
packaged kosher hot dogs, but will no
longer sell them in their food courts.
While some Detroit-area Costco food
courts temporarily still serve the
kosher dogs, the new prototype store
at Telegraph and Square Lake roads in
Bloomfield Township does not.
The executive pointed out that while

the hot dogs were a kosher product,
Costco's food court facilities have
never been kosher.

Thanksgiving Guilt?
The average number of calories
Americans typically consume on
Thanksgiving Day is more than 3,000.
Holiday feasts coincide with winter
months, the time period that many
people fall off on their regular exercise
schedules.
Evolution Fitness in West
Bloomfield is offering free post-
Thanksgiving kickboxing classes to
anyone who brings a new, unwrapped
toy donation for Toys For Tots.
"This is a fun way to introduce
people to kickboxing, while also mak-
ing sure that all kids have fun at the
holidays:' says Dan Jett, owner of
Evolution Fitness.
The free morning class is offered on
at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29 and also
at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov 30.
Boxing gloves and hand wraps are
recommended. Evolution Fitness is
at 33022 Northwestern Highway. For
more information, call (248) 943-4330
