Consequently, an AICR panel recommended that cooked red meat consumption be limited to 18 oz. per week and that pro- cessed meats be avoided. A later 2007 joint National Institutes of Health (NIH) and AARP study found in- creased risk for colorectal, lung, advanced prostate, t 1-/ esophageal, liver, larynge- al, bladder, and bone can- cer with high consump- tion of red meat and/or processed meats.
