He graduated with a master's degree from the University of Michigan and was a successful manufacturer's rep- resentative. He was a lifelong member of Temple Beth El, where he served on the board of trustees, was presi- dent of its brotherhood, receiving the prestigious Rosenbush award, was a member of the temple's Ways and Means Committee and chairman of the Membership Committee. He also served as a vice president of the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan and was a board member of the Detroit Historical Society and Museum. Mr. Mayer is survived by his beloved daughter, Kathryn Ruth Mayer of New York; former wife, Gail Kash Mayer; and cousins. Interment at the Beth El Memorial Park.
