SOBEL, 79, of West
Bloomfield, died Oct. 28,
2008.
He was a family
practice physician for
50 years in Livonia. A

of Osteopathic Medicine at the Michigan
State University, he was also a past chief
of staff at Botsford Hospital and a past
president of the Wayne County Osteopathic
Association. He also served as a delegate of
Michigan Osteopathic Association House of
Delegates.

Dr. Sobel received his AB degree
from Syracuse University and his DO
from Kansas City College of Osteopathy
and Surgery. He was also a member of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek for many years.
He is survived by daughters and a son-
in-law, Nancy Michel of Chicago, Janet
Sobel-Medow and Dr. Mitch Medow of
Newton, Mass.; son and daughter-in-law,
Dr. Robert and Malka Sobel of Oak Park;
stepchildren, Dr. Dan and Lisa Saferstein,
Avner Saferstein; former wife, Irene Miller;
grandchildren, Alison and Stefan Schumer,
Rachel and Joshua Medow, Chana, Brachi,
Yaakov Aaron, Elisheva and Shmuel
Mordechai Sobel, Carly, Adam and Joshua
Saferstein; sisters-in-law, Betty Sobel
and Lois Sobel; other loving relatives and
friends.
Dr. Sobel was the beloved husband of the
late Ann Sobel; father-in-law of the late Dr.
Arthur Michel; stepfather of the late Naomi
Saferstein; loving son of the late Ella and
the late Martin Sobel; cherished brother of
the late Stanley Sobel and the late Leonard
Sobel.

HARVEY SURIS, 79, of West Bloomfield,
died Nov. 1, 2008.
He was a travel agent at Elkin Travel. He
was also involved with Congregation Beth
Shalom's lunch and learn and took art
classes in painting and stained glass at the
Center for Creative Studies.
Mr. Suris is survived by his wife, Irene
Suris; daughter, Penny Suris of Chicago;
son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Debby
Suris of Bloomfield Hills; daughter-in-law,
Brenda Suris; grandchildren, Eli, Ari and
Carlie, Max and Emma Suris; brother-in-
law and sister-in-law, Murray and Elaine
Schneider; nieces and nephews.
He was the devoted father of the late
Marc Suris; dear brother of the late Jack

Suris and the late Miriam Suris.
Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery
in Birmingham. Contributions may be

LOUISE WASSERMAN, 87, of Highland,
Mich., died Oct. 30, 2008.
She is survived by her sons, Mark
Wasserman of Highland, Dale Wasserman
of Oak Park; daughter, Janice Whitener;
grandchildren, Adam Wasserman, Cole
Wasserman.
Mrs. Wasserman was the beloved wife of
the late Irving "Babe" Wasserman.
