Election Final

An interesting article called "36 Jews
Who Shaped the 2008 Election,"
co-written by J.J. Goldberg, recently
appeared in the
Israel's Haaretz.
Major Obama
supporters include

David Axelrod,

Obama's chief strat-
egist and media
adviser who has a
long track record of
David Axelrod
mainstreaming black
candidates; Laurie David, ex-wife of
actor-writer Larry David and a strong
environmentalist and top Hollywood
fundraiser; Ed Koch, former New York
mayor who backed Bush in 2004;
Sherry Lansing, the former head of
Paramount and a major Democratic

fundraiser; Jon Stewart, the liberal
comedian who has a lot more influ-
ence with voters than more tradi-
tional pundits; and
Pennsylvania Gov.
Ed Rendell, who
has worked hard to
swing his state to
Obama.
Supporting
McCain are Sheldon
William Kristol Adelson, a Las
Vegas-based billion-
aire businessman who is a big donor
to the GOP and Jewish charities;
Eric Cantor, the Virginia congress-
man and only Jewish Republican
in the House who often appears on
TV as a McCain surrogate; Henry
Kissinger, the former secretary of
state and adviser to the McCain
campaign who helped prep Sarah
Palin for her debate; William Kristol,
a very influential neo-conserva-

tive voice as editor of the Weekly
Standard magazine, a New York
Times columnist and a Fox News
talking head; Joe Lieberman, the
Connecticut senator and Al Gore
running mate who is McCain's close
buddy and point man with Jewish
voters; and Dennis Prager, a nation-
ally syndicated radio talk show host.

film together. However, as they make
the movie, the duo sense that their
feelings for each other may include
something more than just friendship.
Pride and Glory, a gritty film about
three members of an Irish-American
family who are N.Y. police officers,
stars Colin Farrell,
Edward Norton and

Noah Emmerich,

Newish Flicks

Last week, I should have mentioned
that veteran actor Scott Glenn, who
converted to Judaism in the '70s,
co-stars as Donald Rumsfeld in the
George W. Bush biopic W. Another
Jew-by-choice, Elizabeth Banks,
appears as Laura Bush.
The very busy Banks also co-stars
in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, a
comedy that opens Friday, Oct. 31.
Lifelong friends Zack (Seth
Rogen) and Miri try to solve their
money problems by making an adult

48.
Emmerich has
had supporting
roles since the '80s.
He's best known for
playing Jim Carrey's
best friend in The

Truman Show.

Emmerich just told an interviewer:
"Everyone assumes that I [really am]
an Irish cop from New York because
I have red hair; but I'm actually born,
bred and raised in New York City, a
nice Jewish boy." ❑
