Knollenberg A Friend
Many people would not assume I, as a
Democrat, would be voting for U.S. Rep.
Joe Knollenberg, R-
Bloomfield Hills, this
November. However,
I have seen him
fight for our corn-
munities and our
families. Congressman
Knollenberg is an
instrumental player in
Rep.
causes I believe strongly Knollenberg
in such as Friendship
Circle in West Bloomfield.
My daughter has special needs and
Friendship Circle has given her valuable
life skills she simply couldn't have gained
elsewhere. Congressman Knollenberg
helped ensure Friendship Circle had the
resources it needs to help special needs
children by securing $500,000 for their
facilities.
Congressman Knollenberg cares about
our children. He's fighting to ensure
children have health care, he's fighting to
improve our schools and our children's
education, and he's fighting to make sure
all children, including those with special
needs, get the attention and care they need
to lead successful lives.
Thanks to Congressman Knollenberg
and Friendship Circle, my daughter has
received the care she needs. Without
Congressman Knollenberg's assistance,
many other special-needs children would
not have received the care they need either.
That's why I, as a Democrat, am sup-
porting Congressman Knollenberg this
November and I urge you to do so as well
because I believe the future of our chil-
dren is not a partisan issue.

Elect Peters
Oakland County's Ninth Congressional
District needs to send to Washington
a congressman who
reaches out for new
ideas to solve the old
problems that this cur-
rent administration has
failed to address. Now
is the time for a fresh
start with Gary Peters,
D-Bloomfield Hills.

Gary has his eye is on Michigan's future
and recognizes the great potential for our
state to become not only greener, but to
produce the technology for cleaner energy
for the rest of the world. He's in touch with
our universities and innovative manufac-
turers like Dow, who are experimenting
with biofuels, solar panels, solar shingles
and even solar paint. He introduced me to
Jaytropha, a drought resistant perennial
that could surpass the energy produced by
all other biofuels.
Gary's 20 years in business and
finance, 12 years in the Navy, two terms
as Michigan state senator and our lot-
tery commissioner make him exception-
ally well rounded to serve as our next
congressman. Fiscally conservative, he
streamlined his senate office and was able
to return one year's operating expenses
to the state. And keeping his promises, he
was ready to take action on his first day
in the state Senate by introducing bills to
cut taxes for the middle class and bills to
improve health care for children.
How fortunate we are to have a pro-
active candidate for our Ninth District
who is experienced, progressive and
thoughtful. How much more fortunate
we will be to have Gary Peters as our
congressman — someone we can trust to
help move our state and country forward.

Stand With Joe
There have been a number of letters say-
ing that we should not vote for U.S. Rep.
Joe Knollenberg, R-Bloomfield Hills, just
because of his unrelenting support and
friendship for Israel and local Jewish
causes. As a Holocaust survivor, I respec-
tively disagree.
With the Hitlers in Iran threatening to
destroy Israel, Israel might have to attack
Iran within a year. They cannot allow
Iran to have an atomic bomb. I do not
think the world will do anything to stop
Iran. We cannot have another Holocaust,
God forbid. It would be the beginning of
the end of the Jewish people. Therefore,
I am voting for Knollenberg. Israel's
security and survival dwarfs any other
consideration.
I believe that Democratic candidate Gary
Peters also would support Israel; however,
Rep. Knollengberg's years of seniority will
be extremely important in the coming
years for Israel on Capital Hill.

Vote Knollenberq
In the big congressional race on Nov. 4,
I will vote for the congressman who has
a proven track record of helping people.
U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg, R-Bloomfield
Hills, and his excellent staff know how get
to things done that have helped out our
neighbors in need.
Joe Knollenberg took time out of his
busy schedule to travel to the largest
food retailer in the world and ask them
to donate more food to help our hungry
neighbors.
Due to the efforts of Joe Knollenberg,
our Gleaners Food Bank of Southeastern
Michigan now has millions of dollars of
food being donated to it by Walmart and
Sam's Club. From Gleaners Food Bank to
Yad Ezra, Friendship Circle, Holocaust
Memorial Center, JARC and so many other
local organizations, Congressman Joe
Knollenberg has been a loyal friend.

Thank you, Joe ... you have my vote!

Yes On Prop 2; Peters
"Justice, justice shalt thou pursue" —
(Deuteronomy 16:20).
That is what our Torah commands us.
The candidates/ proposals we vote for
have a direct effect on public policy in the
communities in which we live. I urge you
to vote: 1) Yes on Proposal 2 (embryonic
stem cell research) and 2) for Bloomfield
Hills Democrat Gary Peters for the Ninth
Congressional District seat.
• Proposal 2: My grandfather suffered
from Alzheimer's disease and eventu-
ally was not able to recognize his own
family. Without this proposal, these stem
cells/blastocysts are being dumped in the
trash. Scientists have genuine hope that
continued more extensive research would
improve the quality of life of people with
Alzheimer's disease, juvenile type 1 dia-
betes, spinal cord injuries and Parkinson's
disease. Orthodox, Conservative and
Reform Judaism all support this research.

Those of other religious convictions can
choose to not make use of the benefits of
this research. Who are they to deny a better
life for the living, through blocking life-
improving research?
• Gary Peters: I have personally heard
him speak of his travels to Israel and
his absolute support for her. In addition,
Peters will ensure greater funding for our
public schools and will vote for funding
for all Michigan children's health care.
How can our future be bright if our chil-
dren are not kept healthy?

Behind Peterman
As a parent with chil-
dren in our public
schools, I feel it is
important that our lead-
ers in the legislature
understand the impor-
tance of education both
Amy
to our families and to
our community's future. Peterman
As a former Walled
Lake School Board president, Amy
Peterman is a strong supporter of our
excellent schools. I hope every parent with
a child in school will support Republican
Amy Peterman for state representative in
the West Bloomfield/Commerce area (37th
District). I believe a vote for Amy on Nov. 4
is a vote for our children.

Backing Brown
I'm writing regarding
Lisa Brown, Democratic
candidate in the 39th
State House District.
She is pro-choice and
has been endorsed by
EMILY'S List, MARAL,
Lisa Brown
Michigan NOW and
Planned Parenthood.
Lisa Brown is an
advocate for women's rights . I'm voting for
her on Nov. 4 because she is the candidate
who will stand up for all wo men.
