packaged organic foods, and sections
devoted to ethnic specialties.
But if your idea of cooking is car-
rying-in and warming up, Super
Suppers (2758 Coolidge, 248-336-
9174) promises to "make mealtime
easier" with take-and-bake entrees
and curbside take out, and even hosts
private parties where guests prepare
their own ready-to-cook meals.
Fans of antique shopping can amble
through the well-curated shelves at
Odd Fellow Antique Mall (3248 W. 12
Mile, 248-399-6098), Twice Around
Artifacts (2966 W. 12 Mile, 248-545-
6600), or the stamps, coins and other
collectibles at America's Stamp Shop
(3360 W. 12 Mile, 248-399-1930).
Crafters of all levels know the estab-
lished Munro Crafts (3954 W. 12 Mile,
248-544-1590) as the source for every-
thing from beads, buttons and bells to
toggles, tools and tulip products.
Brides-to-be looking for the perfect
wedding day fashion accessories —
"everything but the dress" is the store's
motto — delight in the assortment of
bridal finery at The Wedding Shoppe
(27333 Woodward, 248-541-1988).
And if high gas prices have you
singing the blues, the folks at D & D
Bicycle & Fitness (4141 W. 12 Mile,
248-547-0770) will be happy to set
you up with a new pair of gas-free
wheels.
Finally, no discussion of shopping in
Berkley is complete without mention
of the legendary Doll Hospital and
Toy Solider Shop (3947 W. 12 Mile,
248-543-3115). A familiar landmark
— in Berkley since 1957 — on the

ever-changing retail landscape, the
Doll Hospital boasts 300 product clas-
sifications, 1,200 brands and more
than 59,000 items. Can't find it here? It
most likely doesn't exist.
Finally, take a well-deserved break
from exploring town at the cozy
Victorian Tea Parlor (2737 W. 12
Mile, 248-542-5253). It has antiques,
gifts, and tea parties by reservation.

ENTERTAINMENT/
HANGOUT
The vibe in Berkley is pretty sedate
when compared to neighboring ZIP
codes. But a couple of spots ensure
hipsters and merrymakers don't pass
the town by on their way to points
north, south, west and east.
At The Berkley Front (3087 W
12 Mile, 248-547-3331), beer is king,
but you'll be hard pressed to find Bud
Light or MGD. Rather, "The Front:' as
it's known, has 53 taps and dozens of
bottled brews from around the world.
A second-floor space is home to live
performances from local bands.
Next door to The Front, 24 Seconds
(3071 12 Mile, 248-336-0024), named
for the shot clock in basketball, is first
and foremost a sports bar. But even
those who don't know a field goal
from a grand slam will find a warm
welcome in the stylish watering hole.
There's even a roof deck in the warmer
months for the ultimate in people
watching.
For more interest and color, head
several blocks west to Hartfield
Lanes and its Hat Trick Pub (3490 W.
12 Mile, 248-543-9338) for a game or
two of "glow bowling."
