The Chapel that recognizes each family's individual needs. ABRAHAM LICHTER, died Oct. 5, 2008, in Miami Beach, Fla. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfa- ther. He survived the Holocaust along with two brothers, his father and sister. His story was later recounted in the book In the Eye of the Storm. After the Holocaust, he was one of four Jews accepted to the University of Nuremburg, where he earned a degree in engineering while pursuing a doc- torate in history. Albert Einstein was instrumental in bringing him to the United States. Among his many engineering accomplishments was serving as chief engineer for New York's Verrazano Bridge. In his four decades in Florida, he participated in hundreds of projects. But his most treasured achievement was his family, who remember his selflessness, love, generosity and faith throughout his years. Mr. Lichter is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa; his sister, Roiza Davidovits; children, Bernie and Miriam Lichter, Malky and Leon Zacharowicz, all of New York, Eva and Sheldon Hamburger of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Detroit, grandchildren, Rivky and Dovid Flamm, Yaakov, Shira, Leah, Yisroel Yosef, Sheri, Elliot, Erica, Aviv, Guy, Chavi, Eli, Esti, and Uri; great-grandaughter Shaari.
