The 37-year-old from Farmington Hills helps treat hundreds of Metro Detroit children at Merrillwood Pediatrics in Royal Oak. She joined the practice six years ago after graduating from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of Michigan and says she simply loves her job. "I chose pediatrics because I love work- ing with children," Peltz says. "One of the best parts of my job is seeing the children grow from infancy through childhood." At home, Nicole and her husband, Jason, are busy watching their own children grow. They're raising two boys, Jack, 3, and Joshua, 8 months. While diagnosing, treating and helping cure childhood illnesses is the main focus of her job, Peltz also enjoys I just read a great novel called Sbantaram by Gregory David Roberts, a convicted Australian bank robber who fled to India. The book was influ- enced by real experiences in Roberts' life. The main character escapes from prison in Australia and ends up in Bombay. The story follows him through the black market in India to the free medical clinic he opens and the soul searching he does along the way. It's the most colorful, exciting book I've read in a long time; the characters are so well developed. I could not put it down, all 900-plus pages. Definitely a must- read. nurturing relationships with the families who visit her office. "It's very rewarding to be the person a family turns to for help when they really need it," Peltz says. Brunch with him would probably be quite entertaining. 3 My favorite Jewish food is matah ball soup, my mother's to be exact. No other matzah ball soup holds a candle to hers. It reminds me of family dinners and get-togethers with all of my relatives, and it makes me think about how much family means in my life. The highlight of every Jewish holiday dinner is always my mother's matzah ball soup. A WHAT WOULD PEOPLE BE SURPRISED * IF YOU COULD HAVE BRUNCH WITH Aged ONE BIBLICAL OR HISTORICAL JEWISH FIGURE. WHO WOULD IT BE? If I could have brunch with any Jewish figure, I'd prob- ably choose comedian/actor/writer Larry David. He's WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE JEWISH FOOD? IITO KNOW ABOUT YOU? I'm not sure there's that much people would be sur- prised to know about me. I do have to admit I'm a "reality show" addict, and I love my subscription to People magazine. ES:!
