iola and Sol Cohen of West
Bloomfield will celebrate their
66th wedding anniversary this
month with friends and relatives. They
were married in Tampa, Fla., Oct. 12, 1942,
while Sol was in service. They will also be
celebrating later this year in Florida with
their sons and daughters-in-law, Steven
and Toni, Ronald and Chris, and Jeffrey, and
their grandchildren, Muir, Jenny, Jasmine,
Trenton, Zachary, Heather, Sequoia and
Cassaday.

r. and Mrs. Isaac Ben-Ezra of
West Bloomfield, Mr. and Mrs.
Jeff Swoish of St. Clair Shores
and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Tritt of Tenafly,
N.J., are pleased to announce the engage-
ment of their children Lauren Ben-Ezra and
Ron Tritt.
Lauren graduated from the University of
Michigan with a bachelor's degree in psy-
chology and from Boston University School
of law. She is an associate at Garratt &
Bachand in Bloomfield Hills.
Ron graduated from the University of
Massachusetts in Amherst with a BBA and
works in finance. The couple met in Boston and plan to reside in Michigan.
An October wedding is planned at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.

The Jewish community is invited to
attend the third annual TOR-AH-
THON, celebrating the upcoming holi-
day of Simchat Torah.
Scholar, author and dean of the
David Cardozo Academy in Jerusalem,
Rabbi Nathan Lopes Cardozo, will
speak.
The rabbi's topic will be "Simchat
Torah, the Impossible Ending and
the Perpetual Beginning — Reading
the Torah as an Art of Protest and a
Daring Encounter with the Divine."
TOR-AH-THON will take place
10 a.m.-noon Monday, Oct. 20, on
Hoshanah Rabbah, at the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield.

It is open to the public, free of
charge.
A native of the Spanish-Portuguese
Jewish community of Holland,
Cardozo holds a doctorate in phi-
losophy and received rabbinic ordi-
nation from the Gateshead Talmudic
College.
The TOR-AH-THON event is
sponsored by the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit's Alliance
for Jewish Education, FedEd, the
Florence Melton Adult Mini-School of
Metropolitan Detroit and the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit "SAJE for All Seasons" pro-
