It suggests that the Hebrews con- tinued to worship pagan gods even after Abraham's covenant and that, in fact, many Israelites believed God had a wife and worshipped her as an idol. That allegedly changed with the destruction of the First Temple and exile to Babylon; it was then that the idea of a single, universal God emerged. Inheritance refers to the legacy that Amon Goeth, the infamous concen- tration camp commander (depicted by Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List), left for his daughter Monika Hertwig.
