She is the daughter of Lynn Rosen Bright and Peter Bright Bright and the sister of Rebecca and Harrison. Her proud grandmother is Annette Rosen. Sydney attends Walnut Creek Middle School in Walled Lake. Her most meaning- ful mitzvah project involved helping the fight against cancer by volunteering at Relay for Life and raising funds for this event. Lauren liana Cantor was called to the Torah as a bat Mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Stephen Wise Synagogue in New York City. She is the daugh- ter of Mark and Dr. Karen Cantor and the sister of Cantor Erica. Her father, Mark, is formerly of Bloomfield Hills. Her grandparents are Abraham and Marianne Hyman of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and Bernard and Judy Levin Cantor. Lauren attends the Horace Mann School in Riverdale, N.Y. Her favorite mitzvah project was cooking and serving food for the homeless. Her tallit was hand- made at a center employing seniors, the Yad Lakshish or Lifeline for the Old, in Jerusalem. Stefani Ruth Chudnow (Sara Rachel) of West Bloomfield will become a bat mitzvah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek West Bloomfield, B'nai Israel Center on Saturday, Sept. 20. Chudnow Participating in the cere- mony will be her parents, Evan and Leslie Chudnow, and brother Josh. Proud grandparents are Betsy and Joel Cohen and Toby and Mandel Chudnow, all of West Bloomfield. Stefani is a student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. Her mitzvah projects included participation in the Miracle League of Michigan, a baseball organization in Southfield for children with disabilities. Max Samuel Dubrinsky, son of Karen and Jay Dubrinsky of Huntington Woods, will be called to the Torah for his bar mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. He organized and participated in a Bowl-for-a-Cure for the Grodman Cure Foundation and felt this was a very meaningful mitzvah project. Blake Richard Perlman, son of Nicole and Steven Perlman and brother of Chase and Reed, will celebrate his bar mitzvah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Friday, Sept. 19. His grandparents Perlman are Alvira Perlman and Linda Rosin. He is also the grandchild of the late Sanford Perlman and the late Richard Rosin. Blake attends West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. His affiliation with West Bloomfield-based Friendship Circle and the children there was the mitzvah project he found most meaningful. Phillip Benjamin Ring will celebrate his bar mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak Park. Joshua Lee Schecter, son of Susie and Marc Schecter and brother of Annie and Samantha, will be called to the bimah as he leads the congregation in prayer at Temple Israel in West Schecter Bloomfield Saturday, Sept. 20, and celebrates his bar mitzvah. He is the grandchild of Janis Rabin and Stan Alfred, Bluma and Robert Schecter. He is also the grandchild of the late JoAnn Alfred. Joshua attends Derby Middle School in Birmingham. His most meaningful mitzvah project was collecting books for children. Dustin Ross Schwartz will be called to the Torah on Friday, Sept.19, at Temple Shir Shalom in West Bloomfield. He is the son of Susan and Richard Schwartz and the brother of Evan. He is the proud grandson of Eleanor Alper and the late Beatrice and the late Leo Schwartz Schwartz. Dustin attends Berkshire Middle School in Beverly Hills. As part of his mitzvah project, he volun- teered his time as a classroom assistant at his temple Sunday school. Zachary Brian Smoler, son of Gail and Dr. Bruce Smoler and brother of Sara, will read from the Torah as he celebrates his bar mitzvah Saturday, Sept. 20, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Paradzik-Feldheim M r. and Mrs. Stuart Feldheim of West Bloomfield and Ms. Helane Kramer of Pompano Beach, Fla., are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter Shannon Mica Feldheim to David Paradzik, son of Luka and Marija Paradzik of Cleveland, Ohio. Shannon and David both graduated from the University of Michigan, where they met. Shannon is a media consultant and David is a tennis pro in Los Angeles, where the couple reside. Their wedding is planned for fall 2009 in Ann Arbor.
