She felt her most meaningful mitzvah project was donating money she had raised from recycling bottles and cans to Ben-Ezra Synagogue, the last remaining shul in Cairo, Egypt, which she visited last winter. Bradley Eric Sloan will celebrate his bar mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Township. His parents, Victoria and Jon Sloan, will Sloan participate in the ceremony. Brad's sister, Amanda, looks forward to her brother's special day. Proud grand- parents are Sheila and Miles Hurwitz. Sharing in this mitzvah will be great- grandmother Helene Hurwitz. She is the daughter of Lyudmila Titova Titova and the young- er sister of Mariya. Her proud grandparents are Sarami Portnaya of Oak Park and Yefim Portnoy of Belarus, Russia. She participated in many mitzvah projects, including volunteer- ing at the Gan Shalom Summer Day Camp at Beth Shalom. Lisa Caryn Waldman (Tova Yael), daughter of Pearl and Martin Waldman, will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. Waldman 6, at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. She is the younger sister of Alexander and Brian. The proud grandparents are Sylvia and Saul Waldman and Freda Goldman. She is also the granddaughter of the late Leon Goldman.
