The end product of the digestion of carbohydrates is a simple sugar called glucose (a.k.a as blood sugar when found in the human body). Glu- cose is the primary fuel that the body uses to produce energy. Excessive sugar intake can impact the body in a number of different ways, among them: • It can result in increased body fat in amounts in excess of what is needed for normal body func- tioning; • It can increase triglycerides (fat in the blood) to unhealthy levels; • It can cause blood insulin to rise to unhealthy levels.
