all left the nightclub with a tangible

At some point, Aronson will ask the
out-of-town 20- and 30-somethings
to support Federation's local fundrais-
ing efforts. "They should also give of
themselves in the L.A. area, and make
a difference there as well:' he said.

The L.A. soiree was not the only
long-distance visit the CEO plans to
pay to young Jewish Detroiters. Future
parties are already being planned in
Chicago and New York over the next
year and a half. The L.A. group, "Young
Detroit in Hollywood," also plans to get
together again.
"If people ask, 'Why are we doing
this for kids who've moved away, isn't
it a waste of money?' I want them to
know it's a great investment in our
future," Aronson said. "We have to look
beyond our borders and begin to see
Detroit as a broader, more global com-
munity, because that's what it is." ❑
