Special Report ON THE COVER Hollywood Invasion from page A14 Is... THINKING ABOUT A GREAT SUIT FOR THE HOLIDAYS Bob Aronson with L.A. residents Lauren Moore from Pittsburgh and Sandy Danto from West Bloomfield mary focus right now It's more about instilling and reinforcing the sense of community they grew up with. The kids who attended the L.A. party all left the nightclub with a tangible reminder of home: Detroit Pistons hats donated by Bloomfield Hills phi- lanthropist Bill Davidson who owns the National Basketball Association team. At some point, Aronson will ask the out-of-town 20- and 30-somethings to support Federation's local fundrais- ing efforts. "They should also give of themselves in the L.A. area, and make a difference there as well:' he said. The L.A. soiree was not the only long-distance visit the CEO plans to pay to young Jewish Detroiters. Future parties are already being planned in Chicago and New York over the next year and a half. The L.A. group, "Young Detroit in Hollywood," also plans to get together again. "If people ask, 'Why are we doing this for kids who've moved away, isn't it a waste of money?' I want them to know it's a great investment in our future," Aronson said. "We have to look beyond our borders and begin to see Detroit as a broader, more global com- munity, because that's what it is." ❑ 4076' cffiest, ffaAle, aoad Oto-o-/Welet N.E.
