ewish Home & Aging Services'
Fleischman Residence-Blumberg Plaza
held its first Senior Dream Cruise
for the more than 500 older adults who reside
on the Eugene and Marcia Applebaum Jewish
Community Campus in West Bloomfield.
"Due to the residents' limited mobility and
physical needs:' said Janet Antin, director of
programming, "a majority of our residents would
not be able to partake in the Woodward Dream
Cruise or other such programs. Therefore, we
created the Senior Dream Cruise to enable our
residents and their families to participate in this
event as well as bring back memories of days
gone by!'
More than 30 owners of vintage cars partici-
pated in the event and showed their support for
the community and its seniors, Antin said.
Residents and guests cheered as the cars
cruised by the Fleischman Residence, Brown
Adult Day Care Program, Danto Family Health
Care Center and the Hechtman and Meer Jewish
Apartments. Following the cruise, owners of
vintage cars had a designated area to park their
vehicles so the seniors would have time to appre-
ciate these wonderful cars, ask questions and
reminisce.
Additionally, the crowd enjoyed '50s music, an
Elvis impersonator and refreshments.
Carol Rosenberg, executive director of Jewish
Home & Aging Services, thanked Warren's Say-
On Drugs in Farmington Hills for its generosity
and sponsorship of this event. She also thanked
the volunteers and staff members that worked
tirelessly to create a special day for "our commu-
nity's true classics, our older adults!' ❑
