Befriending The Drummer
Barbara and Ed Klarman made
regular IRA contributions over the
years, and had reached the point
where it was possible for them to give
away some of the proceeds to charity
without penalty. Then, family friend
and current Hebrew Free Loan Vice
President, Jay Must, suggested HFL
as a recipient of their generosity.
"The timing was right, and the
purpose and function of HFL is first
class," said Barbara. 'When you give to
a cause for a certain purpose, you may
not consciously think about 'it, but you
do assume the donation gets 'used up'
for that purpose. Here, the same dollars
will be there for a long time."
"I'm glad we gave to Hebew Free
Loan," said Ed. "If you give some-
body a lift up, and they're in the
position to pay back, it's the best
form of charity — and then it's not
charity, it's an investment in people."
If you are subject to IRA
Required Minimum Distribution
rules at age 70% there may be
tax advantages to donating to
Hebrew Free Loan.
Hebrew Free Loan provides interest-
free loans for living expenses,
medical fees and many other
needs: small business start-up
costs, tuition assistance, summer
camp, training, and much more. If

WE'RE PART
Students from Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills met
drummer Julian Pavone, 4, of Bloomfield Hills when he spoke to
them about his musical talents before school ended for the summer.
Now they are getting the word out that Julian, who became known as
the "World's Youngest Drummer" at 20 months old, will partner with
a Bloomfield Hills painter in a unique art show at a Northville gallery.
The students will canvas Northville Aug. 22 to publicize the event.
"We were so impressed with the students at Hillel when Julian
Julian Pavone was interviewed by them we invited them to become part of this
to learn vital marketing and business lessons:' said Bernadino
on drums
Pavone, Julian's father.
Multimedia artist Rocky Seprino, using oil and canvas, will create a painting
to music just before Julian comes on to conduct his show. The painting will then
be added to the other paintings for sale that he created in music shows.
The show will be held at the Sherrus Gallery of Fine Arts, 133 W. Main Street,
Suite 210 in Northville between 6-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5. The features work by
international and national emerging artists.
One of Seprino's painting completed with Julian in a show has been sent to
talk show host Oprah Winfrey. Julian appeared on her show two months ago and
has been a guest on 29 other national and local TV shows.
Sponsors of the program include Stonefire Bistro of Brighton and Steve
Badalament, president of Innovation Drums, who will display a drum he built
for Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.

Fulfillment
• Replace old water heaters with energy efficient models.
• Drain your water heater two or three times a year. This removes excess
sediment and allows the heating elements to operate more efficiently.
• Take showers instead of baths. You will save energy and water. Use
the bathtub only for an occasional luxury soak.
• Install a low-flow or water-saving head on your shower. These devices
can cut hot water consumption at shower time by 50 percent.
• If you do use a tub, do not drain the water immediately in the winter.
The heat from the tub water will radiate into the bathroom, warming it.
