After all, who knows more about ballpark hot dogs than Detroit's most famous hot dog salesman? That experience in the kitchen taught Marcuse that it could take a lifetime for him to develop the perfect mustard. So he decided to go to the pros. During 10 years as Tiger Stadium's and then Comerica Park's singing hot dog man, Marcuse, who also is a cloth- ing salesman at the Claymore Shop in Birmingham, began putting a plan together. He found a 70-year-old mustard firm to come up with that perfect ball- park flavor. He came up with a name: "Charley's Ballpark Mustard — It will make you sing!" He found an artist who could execute a label to his link- ing. And he found the bottler. Now he's busy being his own dis- tributor, and has sold 1,200 bottles of Charley's in the last month. Among his 25 customers: Hiller's Supermarkets, Westborn Market, Steve's and the Stage delis, Papa Joe's and, of course, the Claymore Shop, where he has worked for 11 years.
