Three faculty members of the University of Michigan Medical School have received Investigator Awards in Health Markel Policy Research from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Howard Markel, the George E. Wantz Distinguished Professor of the History of Medicine, and Dr. Alexandra Minna Stern, will study the history of non-pharmaceuti- cal interventions and community experiences during the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic in the United States.
