Kadima Goes To Camp
Kadima supporters and kids of all generations enjoyed a day at camp
on June 22 during a fundraiser to benefit children's programs at the
Southfield-based nonprofit Jewish mental health agency. Kadima's chil-
dren's programs serve the needs of children with emotional disorders and
their families. Enjoying themselves at Summer Impressions Day Camp in
West Bloomfield are Keith Lewis with his children, Mia and Jack.

Conservation Tips

What you can do to stop global warming — Michigan Coalition on the
Environment & Jewish Life

Spring and Summer

• Wash cars on grass or gravel so runoff does not go directly into the
sewer system. • Remember not to leave the water running. • Plan
vacations close to home. • Wherever you go, think of low-impact vaca-
tions instead of high-impact vacations. • Also, think low-impact activi-
ties instead of high impact. Examples could be sailing and canoeing
instead of motor boating, off-road biking instead of off-road motor
vehicles. Other examples of low-impact recreational activities are
walking, jogging, hiking, biking, photography, camping, tennis, golf,
swimming, gardening, etc. • When golfing, walk instead of riding. If rid-
ing, use electric carts instead of a gas cart.

Jewish Thought on the Environment

Protecting human health and the diversity of life is a value empha-
sized in Torah, Talmud and rabbinic literature throughout the ages
— beginning with the commandment in Genesis for Adam and Eve to
serve and protect the Garden of Eden.
