ELSIE A. BASCH, 92, of West Bloomfield,
died June 23, 2008.
She is survived by her beloved husband,
Robert Basch; son and daughter-in-law,
Dr. David and Debbie Basch of Bloomfield
Hills; sisters and brothers-in-law, Riva
Greenstein of Florida, Marian and Harry
Cohen of Rochester, N.Y., Thelma Rudin of
Rochester, N.Y., Shirley and Jerry Braiman
of Brighten, N.Y.; grandchildren, Chase
Basch and Chandler Basch; brother-in-law,
Frank Donsky; many other loving family
members and friends.
Mrs. Basch was the dear sister of the
late Sonny Alent, the late Leon Alent and
the late Leah Donsky.
Interment at the Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of

ESTHER BEN SHALOM, 83, former
Detroiter of Kibbutz Hatzor, Israel, died
June 25, 2008. She blessed all with her life
and even now, though deeply missed, she
continues to keep opening hearts to the
importance of love.
She is survived by her daughters, Ditza
Ben Shalom Pillow (Steve), Tikva Shapiro
(Mark), Gadi Ben Shalom, Yefet Taibi, and
Rotem Ben Shalom; grandchildren, Boaz
(Gill) and Nadav Rapoport, Shaul Ben
Shalom, and Iris Shapiro; sisters, Adina
Carmi of Kibbutz Afikim, Bea Sandweiss
(Sherwood) of Oak Park, Freda Wagman
and Vivian Choi of Houston, Texas; many
loving nieces, nephews and friends in
Kibbutz Hatzor, other kibbutzim in Israel,
as well as in America, South America and
Europe.
Mrs. Ben Shalom was the beloved wife
of the late Avraham Ben Shalom; dear sis-
ter of the late Shonnie Kulka, the late Ed,
the late Iry and the late Elliot Moser.

Goldberg was a graduate of the University
of Michigan School of Journalism, char-

regionally ranked as a tennis player; he
was also an avid fisherman. He was a for-
mer member of Temple Israel, a former
member of Knollwood and Tam O'Shanter
country clubs and a member of Broken
Sound Country Club in Boca Raton.
Mr. Goldberg served three years as a
U.S. Army medic in Europe during World
War II.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years,
Betty Goldberg; daughters and son-in-law,
Terry and Alan Axelrod, Nancy Edelstein;
son, William Goldberg; grandchildren,
Sara and David Axelrod, Laurel and
Raleigh Edelstein, Stephen and Sophia
Goldberg, all of Seattle, Wash.; sister-in-
law, Dr. Sharon Lynn Kagan of New Haven,
Conn.
He was the loving son of the late Dr.
Harry and the late Sara Goldberg.
