SUMMER. We in Michigan waited a long
time for the frost to clear this year (did we
have spring?), so now that we're finally warm-
ing up, Platinum is celebrating. We begin
this July issue with a cover image that evokes
pure sunshine: food writer Annabel Cohen's
Mango-Vodka Sunrise — snapped by pho-
tographer Angie Baan at the Bloomfield Hills
home of Jeff and Laurie Fischgrund — the
perfect complement to an assortment of savory grilled treats from
around the world. For those recipes and more, turn to "Hot!" on page
B21. For more outdoor pleasures, check out our cool picks for sum-
mer (plus one you can win!) in the Buzz on page B14, plus one of two
brand-new columns debuting in this issue: In this month's Platinum
Plates, writer Lisa Brody offers a roundup of our favorite spots for
al fresco dining. You can also find another new column, the Beauty
Phile, on page B13.
Have a happy summer!
