WILLIAM SKLAR, 82, former Detroiter

of California, died June 15, 2008.
He served in the U.S. Army from
1944-1946. He enjoyed ushering and
volunteered with the San Diego Police
Department.
Mr. Sklar is survived by his children,
Larry and Steve Sklar and Elayne Schuller;
grandsons, Zachary, Brandon and Aaron.
He was the son of the late Louis and the
late Sarah Sklar and the husband of the
late Vera Sklar.
Services were held at El Camino
Memorial Park in San Diego.
Contributions may be made to San Diego
Hospice. Arrangements by AM Israel
Mortuary in San Diego.

GERALD WILLIAM TAINES, 84, former

Detroiter of Hallendale, Fla., died June
11,2008.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years,
Beatrice (Chodoroff) Taffies; son, Lance
Taffies; daughter Lauren Taffies; grand-

sons, Sean Stogel and Peter Stogel; brother,
Harold Taffies; sisters-in-law and broth-
ers-in-law, Sylvia Taffies, Dr. Edward
Chodoroff, Suzie Taffies, Rebecca and
Howard Emmet
He was the brother of the late Michael
"Mickey" Taffies.
Interment Hillside Memorial Park in
Los Angeles, Calif.

SUSAN R. VELICK, 53,

of Bloomfield Hills, died
June 17, 2008.
The family will
remember her incredible
spirit and her optimism
and strength, which not
only carried her through
Velick
unspeakable trials, but
carried those around
her as well. The generosity of her love was
without restraint, and everyone in a for-
tunate position of knowing her knew how
instantly she formed a deep emotional

rapport.
She sincerely treasured her family and
friends; there truly was no distinction
between the two. Her laughter and her love
will live on in her dear one's hearts, and
they will cherish her memory forever.
Mrs. Velick is survived by her beloved
husband, Jon Velick; sons and daugh-
ter-in-law, Jeremy and Rachel Roth of
Cottage Grove, Ore., Matthew Velick of
Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Samantha
Velick of Oxford, Mich.; brother and
sister-in-law, Martin and Helen Katz
of Bloomfield Hills; sister and brother-
in-law, Marjorie and Mike Masoud of
Huntington Woods; grandson, Dakota
Roth; nephews and niece, Richard,
David and Kaleo; many other loving
family members and friends.
Interment at the Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,
to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital,
to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or to a

charity of one's choice. Arrangements by
Dorfman Chapel.

CHARLES G. WOLFSON, 85, of Port

Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Oak Park, died
June 15, 2008. He was born Jan. 26, 1923.
Mr. Wolfson worked as plant manager
for Dale Plastics in Detroit and Plastic
Systems in Walled Lake until he retired
in 1984. He and his wife moved to Port
Charlotte in 1985.
He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Wolfson
of Port Charlotte; stepson, Gary Neubauer
of North Pole, Alaska; grandchildren Sara
Neubauer of Nome, Alaska and Jeffrey
Neubauer of Hilo, Hawaii; sister, Charlotte
Gorman of Farmington Hills; sister-in-law
Florence Wolfson of West Bloomfield; sev-
eral nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Julius and
the late Libby Wolfson; brother of the late
Sidney Wolfson.
