A Navy veteran, he served two terms in the Korean Conflict and also served in World War II. Mr. Mellen is survived by his son, Andrew Mellen of New York City; nieces and nephews, Dr. Gary and Ethel Rosenblatt, Susan and Maurice Turetsky, Jeffrey and Betty Mellen and Douglas Mellen. She volunteered for over 40 years for all these organizations.
