There are so many things that I could write about to tell you
what an incredible experience we had with Star Trax.

Rabbi Polter of the Jewish
Community Chaplaincy

The entertainment was fabulous, the
music was exactly what we requested
and the evening flowed perfectly.

Program with Mae Bocho,
who lives in Taylor and

recently celebrated her

110th birthday.

In addition, your ability to guide us through all of the logistics
with patience and impeccable follow up will keep us coming

N

ow in its 10th year
of service, the Jewish
Community Chaplaincy
Program of the Jewish Home &
Aging Services continues to provide
Jewish spirit and life to hundreds
of Jewish older adults throughout
Metro Detroit.
As part of his outreach work, Rabbi
Dovid Polter, community chaplain,
recently participated in the 110th
birthday celebration of Mae (Malkah)
Bocho, a Jewish resident of Tender
Care Health and Rehabilitation Center
in Taylor.
Mae, an only child, was born in
Russia on May 25, 1898. She left before
the Russian Revolution in 1905, and
was 7 years old when she came to
America with her parents Harry and

Sarah.
Mae did not marry and has no
known living relatives.
The chaplaincy program makes
a point of reaching out to those not
served by Jewish facilities.
"This is exactly what we do" says
Rabbi Polter. "The idea is for no one to
feel alone and left behind."
The program recently expanded its
services to reach out to the residents
of Hechtman II Apartments, which
were devastated by fire April 9. Many
residents now reside in several non-
Jewish facilities.
Rabbi A. Irving Schnipper and
Michelle Chekan also staff the pro-
gram to enrich the lives of older
adults. Rabbi Polter can be reached at
(248) 661-2999, ext. 301. ❑
