Shapiro's career includes 20 years with the American Jewish Committee, 18 years as Michigan area director. In Sharona Shapiro this position, she developed posi- tive relationships between the Detroit- area Jewish community and the region's non-Jewish community lead- ers. She was responsible for recruiting volunteer leadership for the American Jewish Committee and for its local fundraising.
