WE'RE LOOKING FOR
A FEW GREAT ATHLETES
Once again, The Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation is seeking nominations of qualified high school athletes for
four prestigious awards.
The male and female High School Athlete of the Year Award is based on athletic achievement by Jewish Michigan
High School athletes. Most of our recipients have been graduating seniors recognized for their career
accomplishments. These awards are presented in conjunction with the Detroit Jewish News.
The second set of awards is actually a college scholarship - The Bill Hertz Memorial Scholarship Award. In memory
of Bill Hertz, we are pleased to award $2500 to be used for tuition during the awardees' freshman year of college.
The award winners, a male and female, are chosen based on academic achievement, athletic participation and
need. Our recipients are Jewish graduating seniors who have had a commendable career in terms of participation
in high school sports, an outstanding academic record and demonstrate financial need.
The forms needed to apply for these awards can be found at our website www.michiganjewishsports.org . The
deadline for applying for these awards is June 10, 2008. Winners will be notified by the end of June and honored at
the Hall of Fame Induction dinner November 3, 2008. If you have any questions, call Executive Director Laura Stern
at (248) 872-3737. Or, email her at Istern@michiganjewishsports.org .
