She organized a booth and helped raised funds at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and felt this was an especially meaningful mitzvah project. Eliza Jane Borish, daughter of Julie and Peter Borish and sister of Isabel and Harley, was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in New York City on Saturday, March 8. She is the granddaughter of Borish Elaine and Sheldon Girsh of Farmington Hills and Hope and Philip Borish of Kensington, Md. Eliza is a student at Riverdale Country School. For her mitzvah project, she donated her hair to Locks of Love. Aaron Benjamin Cohen (Aharon Benjamin) of Huntington Woods will become a bar mitzvah on Saturday, May 17, at Temple Emanu-El in Oak Park. Joining in the celebration will be Cohen Aaron's parents, Lauren and H. Adam Cohen, and younger sister Lily. His proud grandpar- ents are Drs. Maxine and Ronald Grumet, and Recia and I. William Cohen. Aaron is a seventh-grade student at Cranbrook Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. He volunteers at the West Bloomfield-based Friendship Circle, participating in the Friends-At-Home program. Jace David Gittleman, son of Sherry and Scott Gittleman, will be called to the bimah as he celebrates his bar mitz- vah Friday, May 16, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. He feels this is a very meaningful project. Jordan Luke Levinson, son of Mark Levinson and Megan Levinson, will read from the Torah as he celebrates his bar mitzvah Saturday, May 17, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Sharing Levinson in the simchah will be his proud grandparents Sheila and Andy Scully and Pat and Dave Rhea. He is also the grandchild of the late Jack Levinson. Jordan attends East Middle School in Farmington Hills. He felt it was very meaningful to help with the feeding of the hungry and homeless at Temple Israel as one of his mitzvah projects. Kayla Anne Mandel (Sarah Malka) will be called to the Torah as she celebrates her bat mitzvah on Saturday, May 17 at Temple Beth Emeth in Ann Arbor. Participating in the Mandel service will be proud parents, Larry Mandel, Shoshana Mandel and Jan Warner, as well as proud grandparents Lillian Fox Freedland, Samuel and Marilyn Freedland and Debrah and Leon Warner.
