The Palestinian Conspiracy

p

alestinian Arab hatred of Israel as a Jewish state is
deeply rooted and leader forced. It has nothing to do
with economics. Making friends with Israel certainly
would improve the lot of the Palestinian people; most live
amid poverty, squalor and deception.
Palestinians aren't born to hate
Jews, but learn to do so. They seek
out history for their cue. Arabs didn't
kill Jews in Palestine in the 1920s or
1930s because of economics. They
didn't instigate war with the new State
of Israel in 1948 or later, in 1956, 1967
or 1973, because of economics. The
Romans in biblical times, the cru-
saders in the Middle Ages and Nazi
Germany during the Holocaust didn't
kill Jews because of economics.
Palestinians understand that real
peace with Israel would benefit their
economy and enhance their material lives. Yet they choose
conflict over conciliation, conspiracy over collegiality.
The reason is telling.
Color it ideology.

No Peace Partner
Why should we think another agreement coaxed by U.S.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would mean anything?
Our concessions ring hollow. The P.A. is too busy keeping
Israel off their maps, building monuments to suicide bomb-
ers, riddling public comment with Jew bashing and choosing
a Nazi Germany gesture as its police force salute. Morever,
the P.A. refers to Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day),
which falls on 5 Iyar (this year May 10), as Al Nakba, the
Catastrophe. Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, who the Bush
administration heralds as a moderate, says such "peace-
inspiring" things in Arabic as: "The Jews are the most corrupt-
ing influence on Earth" and "It is our duty to implement all of
the principles of Yasser Arafat!'
Hamas, which the U.S. State Department has deemed a
terrorist organization, rules the Gaza Strip. Its take on Yom
HaShoah is hardly surprising. A Hamas TV educational pro-
gram taught that the murder of Jews in the Holocaust was a
Zionist plot with two goals: to eliminate "disabled and handi-
capped" Jews by sending
them to death camps so
they would not be a burden
on the future State of Israel
and to make "the Jews seem
persecuted" so they could

The P.A. and Hamas
are the two negotiators on
behalf of a Palestinian state;
neither recognizes Israel.

Behind The Hate
Remember: Almost all
of the 15 Saudis and four Egyptians who murdered 3,000
Americans during 9-11 were middle class and educated,
according to studies by Harvard and Princeton. They despised
Zionism, refused to accept a non-Islamic entity with sover-
eignty in the Middle East and couldn't stand that the entire
world wasn't Islamic yet.
"That's really the issue in a nutshell;' says Klein, who
keynoted the ZOA-Michigan Region's Yom HaShoah com-
memoration on May 1 at the Holocaust Memorial Center in
Farmington Hills. The New York-based ZOA leader addressed
125 people.
His message echoed. It got me thinking how the civilized
world somehow casts Israel as the aggressor in its war with
Palestinian terror mongers, how every Israeli defensive strike
somehow is portrayed as excessive.
Reality doesn't seem to matter.
The Palestinian Authority; which controls the West Bank, is
powerless to arrest terrorists, outlaw terror groups, seize ille-
gal weapons or close bomb factories — all actions required

Silence Not Golden
Where's the Jewish outrage?
"We are as silent now as we were in the 1930s;' Klein says.
"We have more passion now, we are richer now, but we don't
use our influence. We are still as afraid of non-Jews as we were
then!"
For starters, we must support U.S. House Resolution 758. It
calls on Abbas to abrogate Fatah Constitution's 10 articles that
promote Israel's destruction, terrorism against Israel, opposi-
tion to any political solution to the Arab-Israel conflict and
Zionism as racism. U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg, R-Farmington
Hills, is among the cosponsors.
As we bless not only Israel's survival but prosperity as a
Jewish state for 60 years, I reiterate a major Holocaust les-
son that Klein, who was born in a German displaced persons
camp to Auschwitz survivors, hammered on: "We must never
again be the Jews of silence."
It's foolhardy to take the words and writings of our enemies
lightly. They mean what they say. Believe it when they say Jews
