Ilana Goss, 15, of West Bloomfield echoes
Yedwab's sentiments. "It's cool how you can
walk freely everywhere," she says. "Everyone
is extremely welcoming and friendly."
She has made several trips to Israel with
both school and family, and one of the
things she loves about Israel is its freedom.
Goss, who attends Shaarey Zedek B'nai Is-
rael in West Bloomfield and is a member of
BBYO, says, "It is really important that even
if someone cannot go to Israel, they are still
educated about it."

Rachel Brown, 16, of Southfield expounds
upon the theme of learning about Israel.
Brown, who attends Young Israel of South-
field and is active in NOSY, says, "I've been
to Israel three times, but each time I am
there, I learn something new about the land
and its history. There is so
much to learn."
Brown sums up the feelings
of many Jewish teens when she
says, "Israel is not our second
home — it's our homeland
that is open to every Jewish
person."
