Through Their Eyes

JN readers capture the spirit of Israel in photographs.

In honor of Israel's 60th anniversary, the JN hosted a photo contest featuring images readers took while in
Israel. Some are photos capturing tourists on camels, others show proud Israeli soldiers or beautiful sunsets
or people praying at the Western Wall. All said Israel.
Twenty-four people entered the contest, and every photo will be available for viewing on JNonline.us.
Look for a button on the right side labeled: Israel Photo Contest.
Many images stood out for content and quality, making the decision difficult. The first place photo by
David Salama of Huntington Woods graces our front cover. The second place photo taken by Morris Alkalay
of Southfield appears on the cover of this Israel@60 section. The third place photo by Rabbi Jason Miller of
West Bloomfield can be found on the Table of Contents page.
Other photos earned honorable mentions and will be displayed on this page.
The top three winners will receive Israeli-made products as prizes.
Thanks for your participation. And don't forget to check out JNonline.us for the
other photos.

Honorable

- Ken Guten Cohen, story development editor
