Sklar Editor w ith a master's degree in hand from Boston University in 2002, Amanda Warner got a job working in her graduate field: commu- nications. But the job didn't click so she started looking elsewhere. By happenstance in October 2003, she landed property management work with Jones Lang LaSalle in Boston. "I worked at some really neat buildings in downtown Boston and Cambridge said Warner, 29, who grew up in Farmington Hills. She enjoyed the work as tenant coordi- nator and later as assistant property man- ager, but left in July 2006 to come back home to Michigan. 'After five years away from my family and friends:' she said, "I was homesick and ready to move home. Some friends never left this area and others already had returned home." Warner joined Southfield-based REDICO/Real Estate Development and Investment Company in August 2006. And she has no regrets. "I have that many more vacation days since I don't need to use them to travel home for the Jewish holidays:' she said. On The Job Warner is REDICO's onsite building manager at the Trott Financial Center, the old Compuware World Headquarters on Northwestern Highway in Farmington Hills. She's convinced her desire to come home was a plus during her job interview. "It showed my commitment and loyalty to this area;' she said. She added, "I began net- working with family and friends who work in com- mercial real estate four months before I moved home" REDICO has proven a good fit. The law firm Trott & Trott, P.C., owns the Trott Financial Center, which includes Trott & Trott and its affiliated companies. In December, it gave Warner its 2007 Business Partner Award of Excellence, an honor that took her by surprise.
