ECO-FRIENDLY FUN Programs and products that promote energy conserva-
tion and environmental awareness come together during the Green Street Fair
planned Saturday-Sunday, May 3-4, in downtown Plymouth. The fair, geared
to teach and provide hands-on experiences, includes a speaker series, films at
the Penn Theatre, an urban-development display, a clothing-swap market and
children's craft activities. Between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. and
5 p.m. Sunday, visitors can watch organic-cooking demonstrations, participate in
interactive events and get health and wellness tips. There will be experts on glob-
al warming, composting, green careers and organic gardening. Car enthusiasts

THE WHOLE WORLD One lucky raffle winner will take home a Prada purse
at the Lois Linden Nelson Woman's World 2008, an all-day boutique, speaker
and luncheon event running 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the synagogue's
Southfield location to benefit the Congregation Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood.
Speaker Lauren Weisberger (top right), author of The Devil Wears Prada, first a
book and then a hit movie with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, will reveal
behind-the-scenes activities that go into the New York fashion industry as she
is interviewed by Detroit's Fox 2 anchor Sherry Margolis. The chic boutique
includes vendors Denise Ilitch Designs, Heather Lane Pottery and Lori Karbal
and ranges from jewelry and Judaica to high-end children's items, yoga wear and
pet attire. While the luncheon program costs $54, there is no fee for entry to the
shops, a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and babysitting services for children
2 and older with advance reservations. Tickets can be obtained by calling Laynie
Langnas at (248) 357-5544, ext. 48.
