oni Pevos has been dabbling with everything from beading to casting since her high-school
jewelry class, but it was only last fall that she decided to make a business of it — when she saw a
gorgeous high-end necklace and knew she could duplicate it. "Once the creative juices started,"
says Pevos, "I couldn't stop." Now president of JP Designs, Pevos began with her signature lari-
ats (left) made with Swarovski crystals before branching out to include aggregate pieces such as
malachite, sodalite, aquamarine and kyanite. "I love to do custom pieces," she says, particularly
for bridesmaids or mother/daughter Mother's Day gifts. "The necklaces share the same color
scheme and style, but each piece is unique. They are very affordable, and each woman gets some-
thing made just for her that she will wear over and over," she says. Look for Pevos' jewelry at
vendor events at Henry Ford Medical Center in West Bloomfield; home parties also are available.
