A night of male bonding helped connect more than 280 local men with Israeli
soldiers across the world. The group gathered April 7 at Tam O'Shanter Country
Club in West Bloomfield for the second annual Guys Night Out, a fundraiser
featuring dinner, a cigar lounge, casino gaming, poker, a sports memorabilia auc-
tion and more, sponsored by the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. "Having
recently been on an FIDF mission to Israel, spending time with the soldiers
and visiting army bases, the night took on new meaning for me," said Dr. Ron
Lederman of West Bloomfield. The group helped raise $143,000 — enough
money to send 1,000 active combat soldiers for a week of relaxation through
the FIDF's Spirit Program. "All of us at the event were very proud to play a
part in making the soldiers' lives a little bit better," added Michael Goldman of
Bloomfield Hills. "It's a small price to pay — after all they do for us."
