TO HAVE AND TO HOLD. This month, Platinum debuts its new, unique
size. By shaving a touch off the bottom of the magazine, we hope that readers
will find it easier to locate Platinum within the Jewish News, as well as more
comfortable to read. Please let us know what you think of the change.
To celebrate its new look, we've packed Platinum full of lovely-to-look-at
stories this month. Starting with the Goods (page B14), beauty writer (and
Ann Arbor native) Melissa Schweiger gives the lowdown on all the juiciest
beauty tips (including a few for prom) she garnered from the experts while
researching her new book, Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and
Hair from the Beauty Authority. Then turn to page B16 for "Pretty Promenade," where we asked three
local high-school seniors to model the season's most deliciously sophisticated dresses: Hadas Corey
of Birmingham, who attends Seaholm High School and heads for the University of Michigan in
the fall; Carly Zeitlin of Farmington Hills, who goes to Walled Lake Western High School and
will attend Kalamazoo College; and Laura Flusty, also of Farmington Hills, who attends North
Farmington High School and also heads to the University of Michigan as a college freshman.
Finally, in "Mix And Match," Janet and Dr. Milton Mutchnick allow us a sneak peek into their
home, decorated by Janet's sister, Amy Weinstein, senior designer for Jeffrey King Interiors. It's one
of six local residences that will be featured in Temple Israel's upcoming 15th annual House Tour. For
details about the tour, turn to page B21.
