At the HMC's eternal flame, yahrtz-
eit candles will belt and the Kaddish
and El Molei Rachamim chanted.

Center and the Shaarit
Haplaytah will hold the city-
wide Holocaust Memorial Convocation
at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the HMC in
Farmington Hills.
Other sponsors are Hidden Children-
Child Survivors of the Holocaust,
CHAIM (Children of Holocaust
Survivors Association in Michigan)
and B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region.
A highlight will be the kindling of
candles by Holocaust survivors and
their families in memory of the Six
Million and in memory of Israel's vic-
tims of terrorism.
Saul Waldman, HMC develop-
ment chairman; Dr. Michael Treblin,
HMC president; and Alan Zekelman
chair the event. Abraham Weberman,
Shaarit Haplaytah president, will wel-
come guests.
Memorial prayers will be offered
by Cantor Michael Smolash of Temple
Israel in West Bloomfield. Shari Ferber
Kaufman will continue her long tradi-
tion of presenting a dramatic reading.

will host Walk for
Israel-Walk the Land
on Sunday, May 4.
Festivities take place
on the Eugene and
Marcia Applebaum Jewish Community
Campus, Maple and Drake, West
Bloomfield.
This first-ever initiative, held in
celebration of Israel's 60th birthday,
will begin noon at the West BlOomfield
JCC, in front of the Child Development
Center.
The lineup includes music, a free
light kosher lunch and the first offi-
cial gathering of 2008 JCC Maccabi
and Mini Mac athletes. Guests will
have the opportunity to sign up as
a JCC Maccabi host family or vol-
unteer. Preregistration is
requested.
The one-mile Walk for
Israel will begin at 1:30
p.m. at the JCC. Register
by May 2 to receive a shirt,
water bottle and backpack
for $5 while supplies last (items will
be distributed on the day of the event).
