an energetic and quite humorous presenta-
tion about dealing with the stress in your
life. Everyone left with knowledge about
healthy eating and exercise to maintain a
positive outlook on life.
On May 15th at 7:00 pm, Kadima and
Congregation Shaarey Zedek will sponsor
a community- wide educational evening
with the showing of the film,"Canvas." at
Shaarey Zedek B'nai Israel Center.
May 21st is Kadima's Annual Meeting.
We are so fortunate to have as our keynote
speaker, Dr. Jeff London, child psychiatrist.
Dr. London was one of the highly acclaimed breakout session speakers
at our Kadima conference last fall. His presentations are always filled
with excellent thoughts and humor about dealing with the stress of living
with mental illness.
The Kadima Advisory Council on Youth, the newest division of the
Kadima Youth Initiative will focus on parent outreach, parent support
groups and individual case advocacy.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy Passover!!

KADIMA ANNUAL MEETING

SHABBAT MA IONS
GROW IN POPULARITY

Each Friday, growing numbers of Kad-
ima clients make their way to the Lois
and Milton Y. Zussman Activity Center
to help prepare the Shabbat meal, and
then celebrate with their Kadima family.
They make challah, cut up vegetables
and set the table while listening to tapes
of Israeli music to get in the mood for
a warm and festive gathering. Rabbi
Joel Kraus and Harriet Gersten
lighting candles.
Nelson is a welcome guest, who brings an
interesting "D'var Torah" talk. Other times,
Ronit Goutkovitch, our popular and dynamic Jewish Educator gives a short
lesson on a Jewish subject. These special gatherings are made possible
by the generous support of the Beverly Franzblau Baker Shabbat Celebra-
tion Fund, and Ronit is our Mel Richman Jewish Educator.

KADIMA SUPPORT GROUP

Kadima is conducting a monthly advocacy/support group for parents of children with behavioral issues
related to ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Eating Disorders.
Meetings are held at 15999 W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield. Parents learn coping skills, advocacy and
knowledge about community resources. The program is funded by the Jewish Fund and there is no fee for
