Family parking business brings young professional back home.

T

he tug of family proved too
strong.
After graduating from
Michigan State University in 2004, Alison
Miller Goldstein settled in Chicago, a hot-
spot for many young adults. She found a
good job as a sales coordinator at Time
Inc.
But she couldn't resist the lure of work-
ing at her family's Southfield-based
companies, Miller Parking and Miller
Valet Parking. She's now communications
director.
"We have a 75-year history in the
Detroit area and I am excited to be a
member of the fourth generation to begin

to work full time for the business and
contribute to its growth and success:' said
Goldstein, 25.
Goldstein brings a fresh outlook and a
sense of value to Miller, says her immedi-
ate supervisor, Gayle Docks, valet parking
event coordinator. "Alison manages com-
plex projects with ease, professionalism
and always a smile," Docks said.
Docks added, "Alison quickly sees and
acts upon the bigger picture while main-
taining a customer-focused perspective.
Her sense of humor has made her a joy to
work with."
In August, Alison and her husband,
Aaron, moved to Ann Arbor, where his
parents live and he grew up. He left his
position as a Chicago bond trader to
pursue a master of business administra-
tion degree at the University of Michigan.

Alison and Aaron met dur-
ing her junior year when
she studied for a semester
at the University of New
South Wales in Sydney,
Australia. Aaron, a junior at
the University of Rochester
in New York, was studying at
the University of Sydney.
Alison, a Huntington
Woods native, grew up at
Temple Emanu-El in Oak
Park, where her parents
remain active. While in high
school at Detroit Country
Day in Beverly Hills, she
enjoyed B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization activities.
Today, she and Aaron
