Reform/Renewal

Prof. Elon Rimon's spider robot can move
through underground cavities, pipes and
tunnels. It can search for survivors in collapsed
buildings and perform control and maintenance
operations in dangerous structures such as nuclear
reactors.

The three-legged, 30-inch-long robot can maneuver
over obstacles, moving one limb at a time. A mathemati-
cal formula plans the spider's grasping points on the wall.
