Metro Detroit kids get disco fever.

BY ROBIN SCHWARTZ I PHOTOGRAPHY BY ANGIE BARN

Clockwise from top left: Stacey Hirsch, 6, and Emma Dwoskin, 6, both of West Bloomfield. Jenny and Ron
Applebaum with Allie, 13 months, of Huntington Woods. Sadie Kirschner, 6, of Bloomfield Hills and Caitlin Leib,
5, of Farmington Hills. Michelle Kessler with Alexa, 3, and Madison, 1, of West Bloomfield.

Disco is back — and it's sweeping a new generation! Hundreds
of funky babies (6 months and up) and their families grooved to a
disco beat March 15 at Eden Nightclub in Ferndale. The decid-
edly adult nightspot was transformed into a childproof dance club
for Baby Loves Disco — a new wave of sophisticated family fun
with DJs, bubble machines, healthy snacks and an open bar for
mom and dad.
"Parents don't get to go clubbing anymore," said Robyn
Dwoskin of West Bloomfield, who organized the party with Julie
Hirsch, also of West Bloomfield. The international (it recently
made its way to Israel) dance-party phenomenon, which started
in Philadelphia and is now in more than 20 cities, even includes
diaper-changing stations and a chill-out room with books and
puzzles. But, says Dwoskin, "The vibe is what really makes it
special."
