ROBERT M. FREEDMAN, 85, of West Bloomfield, died March 28, 2008. He was known to many as "Uncle Bob." A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he proudly served in the South Pacific. He moved to Detroit from Akron, Ohio, in 1948 and, with Reuben Schulman, co-founded Alsar, a home improvement company and a manufacturer of building products for over 40 years. Mr. Freedman was a special friend to those privileged to be close to his heart. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Joe Aftel; stepchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Stephen Wade, Samuel and Christine Garfinkel; six neph- ews and nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces; great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces; stepgrand- children and stepgreat-grandchil- dren. Mr. Freedman was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Peggy Freedman; the loving brother and brother-in-law of the late Ann Joan Freedman and the late Edward Pat and the late Helen Freedman.
