The entire auditorium, often applauding and cheering, discussed U.S. and Israel policies as if both countries were located on the moon and inflicting themselves on a defenseless law-abiding Earth. Walt and Mearsheimer utterly dis- count any critique of their position that hints at anti-Semitism. That the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the New Republic, to name a few, have all written that many of their I positions are in fact anti-Semitic, was cast aside as yet another proof of the Israel Lobby's reach and influence. Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer seem to operate in a world devoid of accountability or consequences, and in their view, so do all of Israel's enemies. Whether or not these professors are themselves anti- Semitic, I confess I do not know. But their conclusions certainly are. ❑ Jonathan Calt Harris is director of the Michigan chapter of StandWithUs, an Israel education organization. He can be reached at Jonathan@standwithus.com .
