n their December trip to
Israel, Lauren and Marvin
Daitch and their children
— Rebecca Liss, Josh Liss and Karen
Daitch — visited the Technion-Israel
Institute of Technology to inaugurate
the Jay M. Kogan Auditorium in the
Jay M. Kogan Advanced Technology
Center of the Faculty of Electrical
Engineering.
"The electrical engineering fac-
ulty is the largest and one of the
most prestigious — the jewel in the
crown of the Technion," said Technion
President Yitzhak Apeloig, addressing
the dediction crowd.
"This faculty is the powerhouse
behind Israel's prosperous high tech
industry. Intel, Motorola, Google and
other international corporations set
up headquarters in Haifa to take
advantage of the cutting-edge research
from the Technion graduates of this
premier faculty. These graduates have
transformed Israel's economy and
strengthened its defense technology:"
Lauren K. Daitch accepted a gift of
an etching of the original Technion
building from Apeloig and spoke
about her late father.
"My father, a mechanical engi-
neer who graduated Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, understood
the significance of contributing to the
Technion in engineering;' she said.
"His love of Judaism, his commitment

those great teams and that it's a great place to

meet other Jewish people who share a common

goal - helping others.

He says, "If you want a community to be

stronger and better than as time goes on,

it requires investing ourselves. Sharing your

skills, talent and ideas can make a big difference

and really help to give back."

Helping others is not just something Richard

"toys" with. He is investing his time in the

Federation and learning more. Now he's an

advocate for involvement and you can be

as well.

the day at the Technion, meeting
with faculty members and students,

Perlman. He introduced them to Dr.
Joseph Itzkovitz, chief scientist in the
stem cell laboratories at the Technion.
