Providence Friends Ball
The Providence Health Foundation 2008 Friends' Ball, benefiting surgical and other pro-
cedure-oriented professional services, will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Ritz-
Carlton, Dearborn. Two Jewish doctors will be honored.
This year, Dr. Jeffrey M. Zaks, will receive the Order of Charity award. Dr. Allan D.
Fraiberg will receive the Caduceus Society Physician of the Year award.
The event will include Cardinal Adam Maida of Detroit, who will present Dr. Zaks with
the Order of Charity award.

Proceeds from this event will be used to acquire audio-visual technology for patient
education and to support training, research and the professional development of the
department's residents, surgeons and support staff.
The evening will feature a silent auction and dancing to the Simone Vitale Band.

'Super' Super Sunday
More than 250 volunteers — 100 more than last year —
raised nearly $500,000 during "Super Sunday" on March 2.
The event is part of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's annual fundraising effort to fund 19 local partner
agencies and programs in Israel and overseas. The dollar
figure represented 1,300 gifts.
Federation announced last month that this year's annual
fundraising effort will close nine months early because of
the urgent needs of the community from the worsening
economic conditions in Michigan. This move will speed up
the allocation process so the agencies know if they will be
receiving the funds they need.
"We're extremely happy that the community responded
Marcy Feldman, of
the way they did:' said Abbe Sherbin of West Bloomfield,
Huntington Woods,
who co-chaired Super Sunday with Lee Hurwitz of
makes a call.
Huntington Woods.
"The community clearly has heard our message and came together in a time of
need." said Hurwitz. "We're thrilled and very gratified by the response' ❑
