her bat mitzvah at

Saturday, Feb. 16.
She is the sister of
Joshua. Her grandparents are Alberta
Loney, the late Ralph Loney and the
late Jo and the late Art Saltzman.
Joanna attends West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills. She helped
feed, groom and bathe cats and dogs
at the Michigan Animal Rescue League
and felt this was a very meaningful
mitzvah project.

to the Torah to

become a bar mitz-
vah at Adath Israel
Congregation in Cincinnati, Ohio,
on Saturday, Feb. 16. He is the grand-
son of Lillian and Irving Meisner
of Southfield, and Hotche Pastor of
Cincinnati and the late Herbert Pastor.
Nathan is a seventh-grade student at
Wyoming Middle School in Wyoming,
Ohio. He plans to make a contribution
to Aleh in Jerusalem, a rehabilitation
center for children with special needs.

Marlene and Steven Myers and sis-
ter of Cooper, read from the Torah
as a bat mitzvah Saturday, Feb. 9,

Dana Rosenthal. His excited grandpar-
ents are Bobbie and Larry Cutler, Terry
and Ron Berlin and Connie and Jerry
Rosenthal. Sharing in the simchah will
be his great-grandparents Edythe Cut-
ler, Jack Greenbaum, Diane and Harold
Rosenthal and Newton Berlin. He is
also the grandson of the late Ralph
Cutler, the late Sariva Greenbaum and
the late Adele Berlin.
Chase is a student at Sarah Banks
Middle School in Walled Lake. He
felt it was especially meaningful, as
a mitzvah project, to be a volunteer
at Yad Ezra in Berkley, where he has
been helping the warehouse man-
ager prepare large orders of food for
delivery to local agencies around the
metro area.

ichard and Marilyn Berman of West
Bloomfield are excited to announce
the engagement of their son Brian
David to Kate Abbe Kaplan, daughter of Glenn
and Adriana Kaplan of Los Angeles, Calif.
Brian received a bachelor of arts degree in
political science and Spanish from Washington
University in St. Louis. He is pursuing a juris
doctor from UCLA School of Law.
Kate received a bachelor of arts degree in
psychology and education from UC Berkeley.
She is an elementary school teacher at the
Willows Community School in Culver City, Calif.
An August wedding is planned in Los Angeles.
