munities will continue working
together in the future," Jukaku said.
"Because we as a group have made
an effort to cross this rarely traversed
religious and cultural divide, we will
be an example for all Jewish and
Muslim students to come, here at U-M,
and hopefully at other campuses."
Rabbi Martin sees a benefit beyond
those derived from trip participants.
"I do believe that positive experi-
ences like this energize the students
to create even more opportunities for
others on campus to come together
through service, thereby creating a
positive impact on campus culture," he
said. "But even seeing the friendships
developing between Jews and Muslims
in the group is itself an important
benefit, in my view." ❑
Jewish School Accused
London/JTA — A prestigious Jewish
school in London was accused of dis-
crimination for refusing to accept the
daughter of a convert.
The JFS, formerly known as the
Jewish Free School, rejected the applica-
tion of a girl whose mother is a convert
to Judaism and a teacher in the school,
the Times of London reported. Her
father is an Orthodox Jew.
The office of the chief rabbi, which
acts as the school's religious authority,
does not recognize the mother's con-
version, which took place more than
20 years ago under the auspices of the
same office.

end to the Hamas regime in Gaza,"

last. It will take a few months; maybe it
will take a year."
