in each other's
home. Sometimes
the participants like the results
and sometimes they don't.
When Davis hosted, the show
became TLC's first bona fide
hit; it remains the highest-rated
show ever aired on that chan-
nel. However, TLC, hoping to save
money, fired Davis in January
2005. Ratings went downhill.
The cable station's powers-that-
be have admitted their mistake and
brought Davis back. New episodes
air 9 p.m. Saturdays on TLC. Since
2005, Davis has stayed busy on
stage, appearing in Chicago on
Broadway and in a road company
production of Sweet Charity.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra plans
a weekend of concerts, titled "A Funny
Valentine," for all those in love with
love this Valentine's weekend. Pops
Maestro Erich Kunzel leads the DSO
and vocalist Ann Hampton Callaway
in some of the most amorous tunes of
all time across several genres.
The majority of tunes come from
the Great American Songbook, includ-
ing some from some great Jewish
composers: Jerome Kern's "A Fine
Romance Harold Arlen's "Blues in
the Night" and Richard Rodgers' "The
Lady Is a Tramp."
R&B lovers will appreciate Barry
White's "Love Song:' while film mavens
will enjoy Jewish composer James
Homer's "My Heart Will Go On:' from
Titanic. Broadway fans will identify
Jewish composer John Kander's "Gimme
Love" from Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Performance times are 10:45 a.m.
and 8 p.m. Thursday, 8:30 p.m. Friday
and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb.
14-17. These Pops Series concerts take
place in Orchestra Hall at the Max M.
