Jewish Migration Studied
The Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan will present "Why the Jews
of Detroit Moved and What It Says
about Jewish Politics, Culture and
Religion" Sunday, Feb. 17, 1 p.m. at
the Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield.
Author and researcher Lila Corwin
Berman will examine a chapter in
the long history of Jewish migration:
that of Jewish movement from cities
to suburbs.
Berman is a fellow at University
of Michigan's Frankel Institute for
Advanced Judaic Studies and is assis-
tant professor of history, religious
studies, and the Mal and Lea Bank
Early Career Professor of Jewish
Studies at Penn State.
The lecture is free and open to the

Internet Safety Promoted
Temple Israel's Robert Sosnick
Family Life Center in West
Bloomfield will host parents on
Tuesday, March 4, from 4:30-6 p.m.
for an Internet safety presentation,
featuring Brendan Newell, a security
technology specialist with Microsoft
Corp.
He will address concerns about
MySpace, Facebook or Instant
Messenger, identity theft and Internet
scams. Newell has spent many years
in the information technology indus-
try advising corporations on how to
secure their Internet from attacks
and abuse.
This program is open to the com-
munity free of charge, but reserva-

New Top Models?
Models, ages newborn to 4 years old,
are needed for the "Greatest Baby
Shower on Earth" Sunday, March 16,
from noon-3 p.m. at Congregation
Beth Shalom in Oak Park.
The fashion runway will be pre-
sented from 12:15-12:45 p.m. by
emcee Robin Schwartz, IN colum-
nist. The event will benefit the Diaper
Pantry in Pontiac and the Friendship
Circle in West Bloomfield.
There will be a silent auction, raffle
and prizes as well as Elmo, magic,
balloons and food for purchase. Ally
Cohen, of Allyframablefaces will do a
photo shoot of young models.
